Questions & answers
Official sources onlyWhat is Top of Utah Chatter?
Top of Utah Chatter is the Hometown Chatter site for Top of Utah (Davis, Weber, and Morgan counties). We publish local alerts, high school scores and Weber State games, mountain bike results, good news, trails, and local deals — real numbers and official sources only. We are part of Hometown Chatter; sister live region: DixieChatter in Southern Utah.
Which places do you cover?
Davis, Weber, and Morgan counties. Focus area: Ogden–Clearfield metro (Ogden, Layton, Bountiful, Kaysville, Morgan, and nearby towns). Content outside those counties belongs on another Utah region site or the national hub.
How do high school scores work?
We post verified scores and records as soon as an official source confirms them. Sources: UHSAA and the school’s own athletics pages. We never use MaxPreps. Cards stay empty until a number is verified. Every posted score shows a timestamp (America/Denver) and the named source.
Where do mountain bike results come from?
Utah High School Cycling League / NICA results come from utahmtb.org and RaceResult only. Local races need an official posted result. We do not invent placements or times.
How do you handle weather and road alerts?
Alerts come from NWS, UDOT, and local emergency offices for Davis, Weber, and Morgan counties. Each alert card shows when we last checked and the issuing agency. Clear or expired alerts are removed or labeled — we do not leave stale warnings up as current.
Are you live yet?
Not yet. Until Eric unlocks this region, every page is a partner preview (noindex) with a visible “Partner preview — not launched. Feedback welcome.” banner. Structure, visuals, and FAQ are built now so go-live is flip-the-switch, not a rewrite.
Who runs this / how can I trust it?
Hometown Chatter is local-first news for Utah regions. Editorial rule: cite the source, use real numbers, publish fast, no fluff. Photos are either ours or free public-domain / openly licensed images with credit on the page. Income is AdSense and platform payouts only — we do not sell ads into the feed.
How do social posts relate to the site?
Every social post about a story should open the page that story lives on. We write unique local copy; we do not boost or buy placements until there is a revenue path Eric approves.
